It's Time to End the Glorification of Being Busy!

How many times have you caught yourself thinking or even saying out loud, “I’m too busy to…” I find it curious that we all have the same amount of hours in a day, days in a week, weeks in a month, and months in a year, but yet, some of us are more “busy” then others. It appears, that for many, busy can become a way of life, a way of filling our time, of making us feel important somehow…to someone. At times, it appears that we fall into our own “ego trap” as we’re seduced by the number of emails or texts we must respond to, the number of friends we have on Facebook, or the connections we have on Linkedin. Are we keeping ourselves busy at busywork to avoid what needs to get done?

When you think of really GREAT leaders, can you ever, in your wildest imagination, ever hear them say, “WOW am I BUSY!!!!”? I read recently that great leaders project an image that everything is under control and indeed, everything IS under control as they trust the people they have hired to accomplish what needs to get done using the processes that are in place to do a job well.

It’s time to end the glorification of busy as being busy should be a confession…not a boast!

Be good to yourself....
