This is a story about four
people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an
important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do
it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got
angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought
Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could
have.
If your organization or
any part of your organization looks like this, you need to ask yourself why. In
addition to the obvious, what needs to be developed, and nurtured? When you
look at great teams, each member knows their responsibilities, trusts other
members will carry out their responsibilities, and are able to anticipate the
needs of the team. This does not happen by accident, but by design…so, leader…what’s
your plan; or do you expect Anybody to do it? Just askin…
